Digital Storytelling

Page history last edited by Kevin Jacoves 1 yr ago

Digital stories combine still images, music, text and/or narration to tell a story.  I like them better than powerpoints because the students can't cut and paste found text --instead they  need to think and rethink how they will tell their story.

Example:  Start the embedded story or follow the link to see a digital story about the consequences of using ethanol in our gasoline supply.

Task One:          Explore the software

Photostory is a wizard driven package and is very easy to use.  Download it here at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx.  Play with it.  Upload

a few graphics, add some text and music and see how it looks.  Post your comments and questions on the Digital Story work in progress page.

Task Two:          Create your story

Think of one day in your life as a teacher.  How would you create a photo story about it?  What would you start with?

Your assignment for this class will be to create a 2-3 minute photostory about one day in the life of a teacher.  You will need to add sounds, music and text to the story.  You may choose to narrate it as well but you should at the minimum have opening and closing written credits if you choose to narrate.

Continue to post your questions and works in progress on the  Digital Story work in progress page.

When you have completed the project--or beforehand if you want to get feedback from your fellow teachers, upload your digital story to your website then post the URL to the Digital Story finished project  page.

Good Luck and Have Fun!
