Digital Story software, hosting sites and links

Note:  Digital stories were considered to be narrated pictures--like a slide show.  Some of these programs are blurring the distinction between static and motion pictures.  Perhaps Digital Narratives would be a better term for this type of work.

http://voicethread.com/#home Website that allows you to narrate pictures via voice, text, sketched notes and arrows and telephone call.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx Allows you to stitch together photographs and add text.  Hint:  use powerpoint to meld your photos and text together--export the powerpoint slides as jpg's and then put them into photostory.
http://www.authorstream.com/ Website host that allows you to share powerpoint slides on line.  Narrate them in powerpoint, then upload them.  Authorstream will turn them into flash files which you can then share via email--or embed them in a blog or website.
http://www.slideshare.net/ Another slide sharing service.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/moviemaker2.mspx Windows movie maker--although meant for video--you can use it to create digital stories using only pictures
