The squirrelizer! http://www.lutralutra.co.uk/squirrelizer/
Here are two excellent resources to use in the classroom. Please think of them in terms of not just science, but in terms of differentiated learning as well as learning styles:
1) NSTA science objects.
a. Go to http://learningcenter.nsta.org/default.aspx
b. Register to Log in
c. Take a look at “objects” by grade then by subject (on the left menu)
d. Most objects are free! So choose one by clicking on the “add to library” button
e. Go to the Library. There, you can
1. Create Note
2. Write Review
3. Remove From Library
4. Email to a Friend
f. Or, open it! (It opens in a new web window.) Note that the written material is also available via audio file
g. Use the top menus to navigate. Note especially that questioning is “higher order.”
2) NASA Science Activities & Simulations at http://www.knowitall.org/nasa/simulations/science.html
a. Note that you may have to download Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player for these to work
b. They are very short simulations with sound effects
c. They have good “Did You Know?” questions
Let me know if you have good sites to share with others. Thanks, Lavinia
